Green Apple Chutney

Ingredients:

Green Apples - 3 medium
Fresh coconut (grated) - 1/2 cup
Cilantro (chopped) - 1 cup
Ginger - 1" piece
Green chilies - 1 or 2
Cumin seeds (Zeera) - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 6 to 8
Red chilies - 2

Procedure:

  • In the blender add green apple cut into pieces, grated coconut, grated ginger, cilantro, green chilies and salt to taste.
  • Blend all the above ingredients into a smooth paste with half a cup of water.
  • On low heat add 2 tsp olive oil in a pan. When the oil is hot add mustard, urad dal, cumin seeds, curry leaves and red chilies. After a minute turn off the heat.
  • Add the above seasoning to ground chutney and mix well. Chutney is ready to eat.

Goes well with samosas, pakoras, bhajiyas or even chips.
